MBS latex is obtained by emulsion polymerization and is stabilized with an antioxidant system in emulsified form before coagulation. Requirements for higher MBS graft-phase stability can be met using synergistic combinations of Ciba® IRGASTAB® MBS 11 with either Ciba® IRGANOX® PS 800 or Ciba® IRGANOX® PS 802. Ciba® IRGASTAB® MBS 11 is an alternative to combinations of Ciba® IRGANOX® 245 or Ciba® IRGANOX® 1076 with conventional thioethers. The liquid form of Ciba® IRGASTAB® MBS 11 yields multiple benefits in terms of handling and processing. It can be added with greater precision directly to the stabilizer emulsion make-up vessel. It can be easily emulsified and antioxidant emulsions exhibit excellent storage stability at ambient temperature. Handling and safety issues associated with solid products are eliminated. |
